A water softener works by using a process called ion exchange to replace hard minerals in water with sodium ions, which are softer.

The benefits of using a water softener include softer skin and hair, longer-lasting appliances, reduced soap scum and mineral buildup, and improved water flow.

Yes, water softeners require regular maintenance to ensure they are working properly. This includes cleaning the resin tank, adding salt, and checking the salt levels.

The frequency of salt additions depends on the size of the water softener and the water usage in your home. Typically, salt is added every 4-6 weeks.

Yes, some water softeners can also remove iron from water. However, you may need a specific type of water softener or an additional iron filter.

The cost of a typical water softener and installation labor can range between $2,300 up to $8,500 depending on the water softener size, amount of labor required and additional materials required to complete the installation.
